Current Forgotten Realms Campaigns?

My Moonshae Isles Guerilla Force FR campaign is up!
Had to wait for PHB 2 to arrive, but it was worth it. So far the story revolves around Rhogar the dragonborn Fighter, an Amnian mercenary, realizing that what he is doing is inappropriate, removing a peaceful people from their homes just so another nation can use their resources.
He is summarily ousted from his unit and left to fend for himself. He has just met the Druid, a human named Alaric who is looking for a few good adventurers to help him in his quest to rid Snowdown of the Amnian threat. Other members of the team so far are, Valanda, a genasi Swordmage who was traveling to Returned Abeir when her ship was taken by lycanthropic pirates from Moray. Garan, a halfling Sorcerer and Ardath, a deva Invoker on a pilgrimage to Gwynneth to settle a bet about the firbolgs and Torak, the half-orc Ranger from Alaron looking for a fight worth fighting. Last, but not least we have Mordan, a tiefling Bard from Callidyrr who realized right away that here is a tale in the making.
I was surprised at some of the choices my players made; they are usually not such xenophiles, preferring more traditional fantasy races. My NPC Druid is the only human this time around.

One of my players likes the Raven Queen. Personally, I'm 'm'eh' about the Raven Queen as a death godness but she does have more 'flavor' in terms of being than I've gotten out of Keelvemor. Now Jergal on the other hand...

Will the Zhents be used as bad guys in the campaign? Do you have any of the old Polyhedron magazines? They did some great write ups on some of those areas in the Moonseas. One of 'em dealt with the wizard group... the Cloaks I want to say? They were pretty impressive from what I can recall.

I try to make all the gods that I introduce striking in some way even if it means changing them to fit the campaign that I came up with. In the case of the Raven Queen, I simply liked her name and I needed a monastery built around an ancient burial complex so I decided to make it one of the Raven Queen. I've enjoyed making the Zhents less evil fanatics and more nietzschen philosophers who are focused on corrupting the party. Their faith is based on the principle that power is the ultimate good in the universe and that only the strong are worthy to lead. They despise monarchies because of their method of succession but love adventurers as they see them as examples of those who follow their will to power. The PC paladin and the NPC cleric of bane have a good dynamic going as they seek to prove each other wrong.

The Zhents aren't really the main villains, that spot is heavily contested by a group of star pact warlocks who call themselves The Society, a band of Shadar-kai assassins out to kill the party for knowing too much, and a paladin of the Raven Queen who is out to destroy the world for what he thinks are good reasons. I plan on leading the PCs out to the astral sea once they hit paragon level so we're probably not going to confront the real evil powers in the realms in this campaign. I have a fondness for Raven’s Bluff so I might try to include that but I don’t think we’re going to get to that side of the moonsea anytime soon.
Running a campaign in the FR has really underscored just how big the place is. My PCs have barely covered a small part of the Moonsea and the Ride and they’re already level 6. There is so much out there and so little time. They have yet to visit Zhentil Keep or Myth Drannor or Raven’s Bluff or Suzial or Shadowdale or the Pirate Isles and that’s just the places within a hundred miles or so. There are so many places filled with possible adventures, it’s sad to realize that I’ll never get a chance to have a game set there.

I'm currently running a campaign in Cormyr, using the Pathfinder Beta rules and 1E/2E/3E lore. My players really like the rules a lot, and we're converting to PF RPG rules once they come out...
