Current release date for the 3 core books?

Just wondering if June 6 is still the release date for the 4e PHB, DMG and MM? I went to the local store to put the books on pre-order and the guy there wondered if I knew something that he didn't, as he said there is a "rumour" going around that the release date has been pushed back.

So just wondering if anyone knows if the release date has been moved or not?

I was going to start a similar thread.
What I want to know is whether the books will be available at the Australian GENCON at the start of June? I intend on going for a holiday up to Brisbane at this time and hope to buy the books at the CON. But I want to know if I can get them before I go...or if I should just order s set from a cheaper online alternative for when I get back.

Hopefully I can simply buy all the books at the convention...but I need to know in advance whether or not they are going to be on sale there ???

Good question and I was about to ask that myself (though Gencon Oz is from the 3rd to 6th of July, not start of June).

Oh, it is too. My bad.

I think I will get them b4 GENCON then ;) Not to start looking for the best place to buy. (I don't think Milsims has listed them yet, which makes it hard, b/c you can preorder very cheaply from places like Amazon).

I think you're right about Milsims. Games Paradise in Sydney has them listed here for what I would have expected the RRP to be.

Edit: That said, Milsims have an excellent sale going on which includes a whole swag of 3.5 gear (I picked up a bunch of missing books I wanted).

Hmmm. I hate the price of books down here. So much for developing a 'learning culture'. Went to get some fantasy novels on weekend I didn't bother due to the price - I mean twenty-something bucks for a novel!!!

Makes me even more frustrated when I hear people on these boards stating they can't afford the books...I mean what are they American...probably twenty-something bucks. And the Aussie dollar is almost the same. how does that work? Oh year we tax intellectual stuff like music and books so that is unaffordable.

Unfortunately it looks like I may have to shop 'overseas', as in on the net, for the 4e books, unless of course Milsims can put out a competitive price...not crossing fingers though. (This has been the way for many of my cd purchases too...Yes I do feel guilty, BUT...).

There is no reason to feel guilty about shopping overseas for RPG books. D&D is an American product, of course it's cheaper to buy them over there. If you're talking about ordering them online from MilSims or Games Paradise, you're obviously not using those stores as community centres, so why worry about supporting them?

The price of roleplaying books in Australia won't come down until they start printing copies here. Don't hold your breath.

I'm afraid you're right, mhacdebhandia. And I wouldn't feel too guilty purchasing overseas, Connorsrpg -- I'm pretty sure my spending at Paizo is putting a lot of the staff's kids through college. ;)
