D&D 5E [Curse of Strahd] Hooks for Death House

I'm A Banana

Potassium-Rich
Spoilers!

From the adventure:
[sblock]
Death House is aware of its surroundings and all creatures within it. Its goal is to continue the work of the cult by luring visitors to their doom.
[/sblock]

...but how? The scenario presented in the adventure might work on heroic-minded adventurers, but what about average, everyday victims (random Barovian townsfolk and whatnot)? What about those with a more mercenary inclination?

Or....
[sblock] if you were a giant sentient house that wanted people to walk inside of you and die, how would YOU get them to do it? And how would you prevent them from running?[/sblock]

Because your talking about an [sblock] intelligent predator, it seeks out what people really would want.

Instead of the normal "lures", perhaps an old man is used who utters the words
"Looking for someone who can put a layer of silver on that sword of yours?"

If someone is hungry
"Lathander smiles upon you, come in for a nice, hot meal"

Want to kill a vampire? It turns into a wooden-stake-shop.
To much gems? Gem shop.
Looking for a fun time? Brothel.

There is something every character want, player or not. If people hate Strahd all that much the house could be the new home of a man named Helsing. [/sblock]
