Custom Paragon Paths: Favored Soul and Raven Priest

[Hello all! Once again, I would like to post to some "custom classes," dispite how much the expression irks me. Anyway, these are the Favored Soul and the Raven Priest. The Favored Soul is a 'conversion' of the Complete Divine class, but I have taken some liberties with it. The Raven Priest began as a conversion for the "Knight of the Raven" PrC, but it evolved beyond the concept, and is now its own thing. The official 4e forums are a little slow this evening, so I was wanting some opinions on the paths from the good folks of ENWorld. Constructive criticisms are much appreciated! Enjoy!]

Favored Soul

"The face of my goddess smiles upon me. Almost instinctively it comes to me to follow her precepts, and so too it seems that her gifts to me are boundless."

Prerequisite: Paladin class, Divine Challenge class feature, proficiency with god's favored weapon

Time and time again you have proven yourself to be wholly dedicated to your god and his teachings. So pleased with you is your god that he has bestowed upon you the means to further exemplify your religion. You god has also given you the gifts of the angels, hoping that when you leave the world you will choose to join his army.

Favored Action (11th level): When you spend an action point to take an extra action, attack and damage rolls you make for your standard action attacks this turn receive a bonus equal to your charisma modifier.

Favored Weapon (11th level): You receive a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with your deities favored weapon or holy symbol.

Angelic Wings (16th level): You gain fly (clumsy) movement equal to your speed -2.

Raven Priest

"The raven is the envoy of death, constant watchers who make certain that the natural laws are upheld. When this sacred law is violated, I am called, and like a vulture to carrion, I dispose of the profanity."

Prerequisite: Cleric class, worship the Raven Queen (or similar deity.)

Times are dark, and the corruption of undeath upsets the balance of nature. You have been granted the power of the death goddess's own servants to dispose of this malignant blasphemy. Though ideal for leading action against the legions of undeath, your powers are perfectly capable of dealing death to any manner of creature.

Deathbringing Action (11th level): When you spend an action point to take an extra attack, that attack's ongoing effects that are ended by a saving throw instead require two successful saving throws on two different turns to end.

I think both are great, but one thing I would personally like to see is a Paladin version, or atleast let a Paladin prerequisite be allowed for the Raven Priest.

I think it would fit quite well given that a Paladin would be heavily engaged in warfare which leads to obviously death and since well... This is more personal opinion, but the Raven Queen screams Morrigan who was also a war goddess. So I could see Paladins of the Raven Queen with paragon path Raven Priest leading armies and such for his goddess.

I kind of see what you are saying, but it seems to me that paragon paths while partially designed for flavor, are mostly designed to fill a niche within a role. IMO, I made it so that Favored Soul is a niche of the defender role, and Raven Priest is a niche of the leader role (ok, that last one is debatable with controller...) Anyway, it has been said that in order to qualify for a Path that you do not meet the Class requirement of, all you need to do is take the first multiclass feat for that class, and you are set. So, to avoid bad design and possible wonkyness, I'll leave it to that for the time.

BTW, thanks!

Raven Priest abilities look a bit strong compared to what we've seen.

The action point ability could be crazy powerful and it breaks the general way 4e handles durations. I mean use a stunning power and you could stun someone for the entire combat, which is NOT supposed to happen in 4e.

Further, the aura that increases vulnerabilities seems quite strong as well, especially against undead who will all have extra vulnerability to your radiant damage.

@Fallen Seraph- Absolutely.

@Stalker0- I fixed Deathbringing Action, but I think that Aura of Looming Death is fine. At lvl 16, that's only +8 vulnerability, and I do not think that is much of a problem (particularly against undead). However, if there was a "better design" way to handle this, I might would go that rout.

Update bump. I made a couple minor changes to the Raven Priest so that he is more "leader-ly" than "controller-ly."

From what I have read elsewhere, "permanent" flight ought to be at the epic tier balance-wise, not early paragon tier. To make up for that fact, make it an encounter power that lasts until the end of the encounter and requires a minor action to sustain. Would be on par with the other lvl 16 fly stuff we have seen.

And a blast that marks all it's hit targets with divine challenge? Way too powerful (although way cool) to be at paragon lvl in my opinion, should be epic tier stuff. It has the possibility to mark dozens of targets, literally, especially with a Blast 5 effect. That'S a lot of squares it can cover. If you want to keep teh effect, make it maybe Blast 2?

Jack99- With all due respect, while these forums to circulate through information far faster, these are the "official" 4e forums. (An opinion supported by Morrus here.)

Vempyre- I would do the changes you suggest to the flight ability, but that would make it a power, and in order to do that in light with how Paths work, that would require it to be a lvl 12 utility. I'll change it to speed - 2, though. That would make it not only slower than Fly, but also a less maneuverable kind of flight.

Blast 5 is 5x5 squares. I don't think that it is all that huge. I also do not find the power to be all that uber powerful, especially in light of the Justiciar's lvl 11 power. By my estimate, Dogmatic Blast is slightly less accurate, has a smaller AoE but slightly more powerful in the long run. But Just Radiance has Dogmatic Blast beat in accuracy, and "right now" effectiveness, and area of effect.
