Custom Paragon Paths

Lord Weh

First Post
I'm sure others are as excited as me after seeing the Paragon Paths excerpt, and I can't wait to see what the rest are like in the PHB when it launches.

To help me bide my time, I've been toying with a few Paragon Path ideas of my own. I'd love to see any ideas other people may have come up with so far too.

First up I thought I'd tackle the 'Temporal Mage', seeing as time-related spells are nearly always a no-go area, or require very special ruling, I thought I'd see if I could come up with a 'time'-flavored wizard without it being a headache to run. Here goes...

Chronomancer
“I see what you’re about to do, how very predictable.”

Prerequisite: Wizard

Your inquisitiveness with magic has led you to an area many consider a taboo; causality. You ignore the warnings about predestination paradoxes and time rifts, surely if something bad was going to happen you’d be able to see it coming? You manipulate time like it was a piece of elastic, bending it as you see fit.

Foresight (11th): By looking slightly into the future you gain advantage over a target. Pick one foe, until the end of the encounter you have +1 defenses and attacks against this foe.

Temporal Action (11th): you may spend an action point to gain an extra action as an immediate interrupt.

Event Horizon (16th): Your Foresight ability allows you to gain +1 defences and attacks against 2 targets.

Chronomancer Spells

Burden of Time Chronomancer Attack 11
You bend time around an opponent, subjecting it‘s body to the raw power of the ages.
Encounter * Arcane, Implement
Standard Action Range 20
Target: One enemy
Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
Hit: (2W) and slowed until save.

Future Echo Chronomancer Utility 12
You draw the near future into the present.
Daily * Arcane
Special (See text) Personal
Effect: You may take an extra action this round, but forfeit the same move type next round.

Paradox Chronomancer Attack 20
“What just happened?” - You manipulate time to a degree that the improbable and impossible occur.
Daily * Arcane, Implement
Standard Action Area Burst 2 within 20
Target: Each creature in burst
Attack: Intellect vs. Will
Hit: Each affected creature makes an automatic hit basic attack against itself.
Effect: Targets are dazed until save.

Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate any feedback, and feel free to post any of your own PP's!

I'm confuse dabout the last one - why would the targets hit themselves with their swords? And how is that connected to time?

The first spell should probably be a Fortitude Defense as opposed to Reflex. I like the last, although I'd re-word the hit section to make it a bit more clear and formated.

Very interesting, I like the paragon path alot! Not sure if its balanced. Looks perhaps a tad bit underpowered, but otherwise quite cool.

Yeah, the last one is basically a paradox, a manipulation of time that's created a series of events that shouldn't be possible. I'm not very good at explaining these things, but I know they're cool and cause real headaches when you try and solve them.

I'll edit the other parts as advised, thanks for the feedback :)
I was a bit wary of making it overpowered, which is what an earlier draft definitely did, I wanted to make sure it was easy to run too, seeing as time-related messing about could potentially lead to headaches.

Anyone else got a Paragon Path they've been working on? Go on! Lets have a look!

I think that is very good. It feels on a par with the revealed classes thus far. I think that it feels balanced. Only thing I would say is that the creatures should roll their own attack roll against themselves for paradox and not be an automatic hit.

The action point use is amazing.

I cast disintegrate at you!!

A spend an action point as an immediate interrupt. I move away from the beam. You automatically fail your attack roll.

I'll take that:)
