Custom-Printed Battle Maps

So, I was pining over the large format printers (the 24-inch kind) on Amazon, and bemoaning the fact that I really can't justify dropping a thousand bucks just so I can print my own full-sized, full-color battlemaps before the game.

Then it occurred to me, "Y'know, there's probably a business model here. You could have gamers e-mail you image files with their customized battlemaps, or make the maps using an app on your website, then print those maps on a large-format color printer and mail them to said gamers. I'd pay for that."

Then it occurred to me, "Maybe I can pay for that."

Does anyone know of a company that does this?

I've run Gamer Printship since 2007

I've run Gamer Printshop since 2007, I do three things really. I take anybody's map design even in native formats like Campaign Cartographer, Fractal Mapper, PSD, PDF, JPG, PNG. Open it and print to my 44" Canon 12 color inkjet paper with up to 2800 x 2800 dpi resolution to photo grade paper.

Then I offer lamination, this is mostly handled over Email at present, but I'm building a new site to do that better.

I also print RPG publisher's maps with small profit to publishers, though not exclusive, I do print World of the Burning Sky campaign maps, exclusively I print Free City of Zobeck for Wolfgang Baur's Open Design Project, several maps for Rite Publishing, Jonathon Roberts Fantastic Maps, Anna Bernmalm's Greyhawk maps, several others including my own maps.

I also sell some map products, like tile sets, etc.

My full color print charge is $2.99 per square foot, and 5 mil lamination is $ .15 per linear inch; basically a 24" x 36" print is $16.94 and lamination is $4.50.

I've been doing this since April 2007. So, yeah, I thought of the idea too!

I'm currently building a new site called Free RPG Maps, where I will offer 2 free RPG map downloads each week, while promoting my other products and services, should be up by next week. I'll ost an official announcement when that time comes.
