Custom Spell: Ready Object

I think 0 or 1st level is good for the Ready Object spell and level 2 too high because your Retrieve spell, by comparison, works at close range while the Ready Object spell has to be not only on your person but something you could ready as a move action otherwise, e.g. it can't be stowed deep in your backpack. Retrieve can allow all sorts of strategies, such as retrieving things from a teammate so that they can use the item until you need it badly, using a valuable object as bait without high risk of losing it, or for that matter conning someone by bartering for something valuable and then recovering it later. It could even be used as part of a trap, for instance if the object's weight is all that's keeping a trap from going off. Anyway, my point is that it's a much more modest effect to ready something as a swift action that you could have readied from your person as a move action, kind of like the quick dismount use of the Ride skill.

Conversely, I think Retrieve may be too low level for the reasons I've outlined. At first I thought Switch Costumes was, too, but I think the weight limit is a good way of scaling it with level. Plus as a bard spell it's not as though it's likely to be used to swap in full plate. I'd probably call the stuff in the chest the target and give it a standard range but that's just because I like to minimize the number of spells that have irregular ranges.
