OK -- I've started putting a character together:
What level are we starting at?
Meet Arnold Dirgon, Blue Collar, Connection
Arnold works as a Networking Maintenance Specialist for DynaLynx, a Division of Olanicorp. DynaLynx holds the primary contract for maintaining communication equipment in the city. It's parent company, Olanicorp, is a military manufacturing group specializing in cyber dependent weaponry. During his off hours he runs a grey market trade of consumer and commercial electonics devices. He stands 6' 1" and is a quick-witted, outgoing man with an intelligent eye and an athletic build.
His uses Breyson's Poolhall as his principle contact point but most deals are made out of his car -- a Plymouth Satellite. As a gregarious person and an engaging speaker he has little trouble finding buyers and sellers and makes sure that everyone leaves the deal happy. He makes ample use of his employer's large supply of equipment and knows how to work the system to acquire "lost" and "damaged" goods. His friend, Evelyn Wiess in the accounting division knows how to cover his tracks and he rewards her well. He tries to deal only with buyers who come recommended and will sometimes make a legitimate sale to test out a new customer's intentions.
Arnold makes a decent living from both his day job and side work but always dreams of making a really big deal that could set him up for a good life in a nice apartment uptown. Until then, he lives on the edges of the law, with a few close friends whom he spends as much time with as his schedule allows. He's always looking for a woman he can settle down with when the time is right but values his independence too much right now to do anything about it.
Arnold always avoids trouble and will try to diffuse a fight or talk his way out of one. When a deal turns bad or a customer turns psycho Arnold heads for the door but when forced to, he will use any weapon at hand or his Glock17 (which he always keeps loaded and in a back holster) to cover his escape.
He's always eager to talk with others and keeps up on the current news about town. He's always looking for a good party and despite always having a drink in his hand during off hours -- never appears drunk.
Thought this could help get the ideas started.
Allen -- you definately need to keep the wealth rules -- every aspect of the game is built around it, converting would be a nightmare!
