After reading through this thread and reading the review of what was shown, my expectations for this film have risen a bit. Heres to looking forward to a decent D&D film.

Guess I shouldn't say that enjoy the first film. ;)

wingsandsword covered it in this thread more extensively than I plan to, so I will just spout out some thoughts. It looks much better than the first one, but that doesn't necessarily say a whole bunch. The visual effects looked decent. From the 25 minute preview (complete with interviews, etc), it seems they really, really tried to make it work closely with the D&D rules). Personally I am not so sure this is a good thing, so we'll see better when the movie is released. And yes, there were long lines to get into the preview when we were there for the 9pm showing.

It doesn't sound as bad (from Wingsandswords' review) as the first one. Maybe it won't suck after all. But I dunno if I'll just rent it from Blockbuster or actually buy it (I haven't bought the first one).

You sure the mage isn't a girl?

Yep, the mage is a woman

with the writer of the film as well as Charles Ryan, and someone from Hasbro that I didn't recognize her name there also to answer questions

That someone would be Cindi Rice. Long time Wizards employee. Among other things she was the line manager for Ravenloft back in the day.

I saw the preview, and I think it should be pretty good. It obviously won't be the second coming of LOTR, but for a direct to DVD release, it should work.

My buddies and I saw this preview. We were hanging out in the room before it watching fan films (and having a good laugh). When they started up, we were baffled at how fast the room had filled up and the legions of gamers waiting in line to see it.

I did see a guy with a camcorder.

I'm optimistic that this will be fun movie and a good renter. It has a high chance of not sucking as bad as the first one. I'd put it in the category of things like Kull the Conquerer, Conan the Barbarian, Krull, Beastmaster and the like--all not-good but really-fun movies.

I already have a favorite character--the thief. He was this cranky short guy shoving party members out of the way so he could disarm traps.
