D&D (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

It's a classic horse riding trick I've seen in person.

They ride by, grab someone's hands, and pulled them up behind into the saddle.
1)That's not a grapple. It's a horse trick. A grapple in d&d us forced.

2) the rider isn't trying to hold her lying down on thr ground to be dragged while also riding.

No matter how you slice it, that example doesn't apply. It's apples to my oranges.

Yes. No one is trying to kill anyone with that trick. So they make sure to do it safely.

Horse hooves can deal serious damage if you get caught under them. And not the type that heals with 8 hours rest.

Why is anyone prone?
Just grab their head and keep riding.

Not that horses can't drag people who are prone, and a few feet away.

Thankfully I've never seen it in real life.

It would be impossible to switch which side your dragging them on. So going back and forth wouldn't work. But D&D doesn't have facing so...

Your loss. I hear the same thing about people not voting during elections and then complaining about who was elected. 🤷‍♂️
eh, if I could express my opinion as clearly during the playtest as I can during elections then I would not consider it a waste of time. As it stands I see no reason to participate

Apples do not equal oranges. Do you have any oranges to argue?

Do you have any evidence oranges do are impossible?

Anyways, it works with the rules. You want to house rule that you can't drag people from a horse then go ahead.
I don't see any rules for grappling from horseback. At least not in 5e anyway. The 5e rules deal with one on one grappling and moving using the grappler's personal movement rate. Nothing about being able to be on or use a horse's movement rate.

Do you have any language from the 5.5e rules that change things?

The spikes are meant to be hard to see, though. If you didn’t see them being conjured, you have to make a Perception check to see them afterwards.

A waist-high (or higher) briar patch would be a lot more noticeable than that!

That's because they're magic! :)
