D&D 3.5 Gift Set - What is in it?

Nifelhein

First Post
I have been troubled about the date of release for it and since nowhere I can find the date is sometime soon, not yet released and the like I thought about asking wizards, sent them a mail:

The D&D Revised Core Book Gift Set was scheduled for release on Sept 12, 2003. This is the 3.5 version. Your local game or hobby store most likely will have it already. If not, they may want to check with their distributor. If you don't know of a retail store near you which carries D&D products, try our Retail Store Locator: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=company/locator

Thanks

So I was wondering if anyone got it and what was special about it, if anything, I have been on a thread about what could be and what we thought should, but I want to know the actual one now.

Gonna go for it after the credit card closes for this month and starts a new bill...

I think it may be and they are sold together by default, I think they may have some kind of case for the 3 together but I may be wrong...

I hope you are. I haven't gotten the 3.5 books because my DM didn't want to upgrade midstream. I'm thinking about getting the gift set, since it's now available.

If the only perk is that it's got a box, that's pretty much an anti-perk IMHO. I rarely have my PH, DMG, and MM in the same room. Sometimes they aren't even within several miles of one another. A box would only gather dust.

On the other hand, if they have alternate art, especially cover art, it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll get 'em. Not that I expect the alternate to be any better, but different is cool.

I doubt there is any alternate art, even for the covers, but who knows, maybe they made it with those glitter covers and have put a page marker on it...

As far as I have searched I seem to be right, a case like the one for Werewolf 3rd edition Special Edition, from WW, no art book thought...

Anyone can clarify, please??? :(

I'm still waiting to get mine. I see that the date on EN World's front page has gone from September to October. Why is it taking three months to put the books in a box?

As far as I know, the gift set consists of the three core books in a box with some artwork on it. That's it.

I hate waiting.

The only reason I'm waiting is because the core books are only going to cost me 13 bucks this way and I am SOOO not made of money.

Well, I was a bit worried by the delay too and that is why I asked Wizards when can we expect it, they said it is already out, as pointed on my first post, maybe you can check your store and tell them to check with their distributor...

But how are you gonna pay 13 bucks only?? I am gonna pay 60!

And I also hate waiting...

I ordered mine through Amazon. Preorder discount + a gift certificate I acquired = 13 bucks and free shipping. Yummy.

If I had employment I'd cry for the brick and mortar stores but I don't, and I don't have a FLGS.

Personally, the more it is delayed the more I get interested: there is an increasing (but still small) chance that it may contain some of the errata
