D&D and D20 at Walmart?!?

Well my most local gaming store was Sam Goody.
They had a decent selection of WOTC stuff but not much else.
But as of today they closed without notice.
According to the local news all the Sam Goodys closed today. :(

At least there are a few FLGS within an hour or two.

Thanks for the thought, but I live in a small town. The nearest game store is Castle Perilous in Carbondale, and it rocks. Back room for games, friendly knowledgeable gamer employees, tons of selection. But its over an hour there. Way too far to drive regularly.

That is a great store (college town, go figure), We used to drive the hour or so to go up there all the time when I had friends enrolled in SIU.

For a number of reasons, the hobby shops in my area are what drove me to start ordering my game materials online. I haven't stepped foot in one for over three years.

If Wal-Mart can offer a decent RPG selection at low prices (like most everything else they sell), I would be happy to start shopping in person again.

There's one RPG shop here, and it's not any kind of haven for me. Service is poor, and I'm more knowledgeable in the releases of d20 books than they are.

If there was a cheaper on-line shop, I'd use that. (In finland I guess there isn't.)

What if you don't have an FLGS within walking distance but a Wal-Mart is near?

At least you can see more hotties in the stores, especially by the swimsuit rack. :p

Now if we could order a Big Mac with a side of Epic-Level Handbook at a drive-thru window...

I think I'm safe. As I said, my FLGS isn't. And then I have to deal with getting to my FFLGS (second F is for Fairly). Sometimes B. Daltan is just easier. Plus, I've never recieved better customer service than at that store.

I would love to get this stuff at my FLGS, but I don't HAVE a FLGS near me. If I had the money, I would open one. I have a biweekly game at my old town, about 100 miles away, so I hit that FLGS every time I go to game.

Well, let's see...

as it stands now, I can got to Wal-mart, and...

Buy my weekly groceries
Get a new wardrobe
Buy an armoire to put the new wardrobe in
Buy a beer-brewing kit
buy patio furniture
arm myself
Get a line of credit
get my eyeglass prescription changed
have my car's oil changed
get my hair cut
have my taxes prepared
buy some fast food on the go

Not much more to add, other than to buy my gaming supplies, is there? :D
