D&D and snacking, a subliminal message?

We're pigs.

Last night we played, and were consumed (4 people):

2 large pizzas
pop-corn
3 kinds of jujubes (1 small bag of each)
jelly-beans
a box of pringles
~3 liters of coke
~2 liters of iced tea
~8 beers

Were also brought but not consumed:

a bag of chocolate cookies
a bag of varied munchies (party mix or some such)

What we eat during games is absolutely awful. I've been pushing for a healthier alternative, but so far, the only thing we've done to improve our eating habits is incorporate a bag of cut carrots :D

Eating and playing D&D are mutually inclusive. The major problem I have with this is that there's always a lot of food on the board when it's time for a combat...

Sodas were always my group's problem. As DM, I once drank the equivalent of about 36 cans of regular Pepsi over the course of around 6 hours... my nose started to bleed and my hands were shaking... we didn't even realize it until after I noticed my nose was bleeding and I had to start using the rest room every 5-10 minutes -- then we stopped and counted just how much I had drank.

I've since changed my ways... I only have water near me when I DM.

We generally ordered Chinese when we gamed. As for snacks, we were always partial to pretzels, but never anything too extreme in quantity.

That's scary... Did you even sleep that night (I think not with that ammount of caffeïne in you system).

My record stands at 3 bottles of Ice Tea (1.5 liter a bottle) in a 5 hour game. I had to stop 7 times during the 20 min. drive home to take a leak (a drive suddenly seemed endless

Damn! That is similar (no bleeding involved) to why I stopped drinking soda. Let's just say that it had to do with 2 days in New York at a con eating nothing but fast food. That and soda (especially cola) is evil. I used to burn through a 6-pack or more per night. This was on non-gaming nights as well. Yuck.

Surprisingly, I have no trouble sleeping with caffeine in my system -- I just become increasingly irritable and grouchy the more I 'take'... and my wife had to deal with me after that session.

I've tried to cut back, and did succeed for awhile, because too much soda always make my stomach ache, but I'm back up to around 4-6 cans a night, plus maybe a 20oz bottle or two at work. It's a horrible habit to kick, but hey, at least I don't smoke, and I hate coffee and tea... :D

One of my players is a regional manager for KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and he brings a bucket of chicken, bbg boneless wings, chicken tenders, cole slaw, mashed taters & gravy, corn bread, green beans.....pretty much the works. We usually take a break from KFC every few weeks and make something else (many of my players and myself are good in the kitchen). Cincinnati Chili, different curries, pasta, pies and cakes, casseroles, bisques, et cetera. Our wives come by toward the end of the session to eat and subsequently complain that we cook better for ourselves....... but that's an entirely different matter. Every group should have a crockpot (most do have crackpots....)

Cheers

Nobody I game with really eats all that much while we play. We don't fast or anything, we just get into things enough to forget about it. Of course, during a long game we will have a food run.
