D&D Attack Wing?

I just have no interest in this game, and I feel that WotC is just trying to piggy back on what is popular at the moment (the likes of Star Wars X-Wing and Star Trek Attack Wing). Whilst that's a sound business move, I think it's too little too late for something like this, and I don't think the theme syncs well with the game. Sure, there hasn't been a load of specifics on how exactly the game will play out, all I can garner for it is a faint "Meh". This will go the way of the Dungeon Command game (which was actually quite good!) which I'm pretty sure they are cancelling. I'll go ahead and say that I was indeed hoping for a resurrection of the D&D Miniatures game, but I've always tried to be open to new possibilities. What does the rest of EN World think?

There appears to be a fair amount of interest on Twitter and G+ for it. Not my cup of tea, but I know guys that need the new X-wing minis, just cause there's new X-wing minis, not because they play the game much. So there's a market, not sure how big it is though.

I play X-Wing, and it's a really solid (and good) system. D&D Attack Wing looks like being a real game, and from the pictures I've seen of the minis, most of them could easily be used in a regular D&D game as well. (The hero miniatures have regular bases and clip onto the Attack Wing bases).

I'm going to be very interested in how it sells.

Cheers!

I am interested in the game and will probably pick up the starter set, but I probaly wouldn't play much and won't be spending $100s on expansions.

i still have yet to play the X-Wing game I bought.

For that particular style of game, spaceships work better than dragons for me. Thematically, at least.

I'm very interested in the changes they'll make to the system. In X-Wing, you can't attack a ship your own ship is touching. They changed that for Star Trek, so you could.

In D&D, it'd make more sense if the dragons could attack while touching (fangs and claws). Indications are that they've tweaked the system to work with D&D; having special melee abilities seems one likely tweak.

Cheers!

I think they missed a trick by not also having it double as an RPG supplement (ala Domains at War). "If you want more detailed rules for aerial combat, see the D&D Attack Wing game..."

How do you know the upcoming D&D doesn't say "If you want more detailed rules for aerial combat, see the D&D Attack Wing game..."?

I assume the article linked above would have mentioned it, since that would be a selling point.
