They talk about Wish. They fail to mention one advantage of using it to cast another spell is that it's free and it's can be cast as an instant action and zero material compenant costs, even if the original spell takes hours and hours to cast and required expensive material compenants.

Yeah, wish is insane that way. The most potent use is of course to cast simulacrum for free (even without the "chain of simulacra" exploit, just one simulacrum per day is busted as all get-out), but there are plenty of other tricks... casting symbol mid-combat, for example.

Using Wish to cast a 9th level spell is broken, also. Yes, it's interpreted by the DM and the DM can mess with it but, since you're using Wish to duplicate the effects of a spell, you aren't penalized with any of the drawback effects of the wish spell.

The caster only avoids the negative effects for 8th level spells or lower. That's been confirmed in the Sage Advice Compendium.
