D&D: big as it ever was? (Forked Thread: So...How are Sales of 4E Product?)

Citation for what?

The DVD says they went way over budget, that is why the dragon hatching scene was cut and several others went unfinished because they went over budget and couldn't get more money.

Meaning WotC/Hasbro taking a chance on a nobody director because he was cheap means they got what they paid for.
You are strikingly ignorant of the facts.

Courtney Solomon bought the rights to make a Dungeons & Dragons movie from TSR, well before Wizards of the Coast bought TSR. Well before Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast, too!

Blaming Wizards of the Coast for the crappy film is ridiculous; they didn't pick Solomon to direct, they didn't pay for the film to be made, they didn't have any input on casting or direction. They had a bit of involvement as the licensor by the time the film got made, since they naturally wanted to have the film do well and contribute to the D&D brand, but blaming them for the failure of the film is like blaming Sega for Uwe Boll's crappy House of the Dead game.

Once the license has been sold, the licensor generally has very little input unless the terms of the license give them that input, and the people at TSR who sold Courtney Solomon the rights to make a D&D movie back in the early Nineties didn't set the license up that way.

 This is the forked one!

Heh, yeah, I got caught on that one too. Sorry Delta. Too many similar threads.

Now all we need is someone to start cut and pasting the same post to multiple forked threads and the confusion will be complete. (already found that one today. yikes.)
