First Post
Back in May of 2001 Eric Noah posted a poll asking everyone what they want D20 publishers to produce. I'm curious as to how this has changed now that a year has almost passed.

So the question is:

What should D20 System publishers be producing more of (not including stand alone games)?

1) More low-level adventures

2) More mid-level adventures

3) More high-level adventures

4) More spells/magic item books

5) More monster books

6) More generic locations (populated taverns, shops, castles,
ships, not tied to a campaign setting)

7) More character-related stuff (new prestige classes, new feats, new skills, new races, but not tied to a campaign setting)

8) More campaign settings

9) More "rules expansions" (new rules for underwater combat, large-scale combat, new magic systems, new core classes)

10) Something else

I would like them to do something else. Something that I have never thought about...

Seriously, I'd like more of a lot of the above*, but for the moment I have enough of most of it. So

* Especially considering the natural law that says "90% of everything is cr*p!". Which means that there has to be nine bad d20 products for every good one. The ratio may vary a bit, but generally it is the same for everything.

That's because the original poll allowed only one choice as well (if I remember correctly).

Well, I don't run published adventures very often, so number 1-3 is out. I still have my 2e encyclopedia magica and wizard compendiums, so if I really feel the need for more items or spells I can always do some converting.

Generic locations can be good, though like published adventures its not something I'm likely to use a lot. I'd rather roll my own. Same with campaign settings. For generic fantasy I'll run in GH with the Gazeteer and fill it up with whatever I need.

I do like monsters - MM2 I'm very much looking forward to. I have CC2 dark menagerie and may pick up the other one at some point. No MoF, as I have nothing to do with the Land of Oz.

Most of all, I like rules expansions. Naval rules, underwater rules, warfare, etc. I like putting the charcters in unusual situations.

As far as class stuff, I have the splatbooks, which is more feats and PrCs than will ever likely see light of day in my game. So furthur ones are merely filler to me.

I voted for more generic locations. I would personally find this *very* helpful if they are done well.

After that rule expansions are always nice.

Yep this is where it goes for me too - rules for different situations and developments. In the Original Expert Set for instance there were rules for managing castles etc, Underwater rules would be good and we need War rules (ie large scale combat) and Aerial combat rules

Me I want Ship Navigation rules, and more Race books - extending on monster races and giving them viable cultures and extending PHB racesand giving them cultures too

While where on it more non-european/non-oriental settings (like Nyambe, India, Maztica, Polynesia - still workling on this:))

Walking with Beasts is to screen on public TV this weekend so I want a MM with Prehistoric Beast stats - Andrewsarchus yeah!!
(oh and Dino stats too)

More 'social roleplaying' scenarios might be good less monster infested dungeons

If you don't already know Tonguez, Fantasy Flight Games (Seafarers Handbook) and Mongoose Publishing (Seas of Blood) both have water ship combat rules and FFG I know has underwater rules as well. AEG has a War book (though I havn't seen it) and Eden Studios will be coming out with a book called Fields of Blood: The Book of War that will have mass combat rules as well as other nifty GM tools.

On races; It seems every publisher and his cousin are coming out with race and class books. Mongoose Publishing has their Slayer's Guides, Quintessential class and Quintessential race books, Green Ronin has Hammer and Helm: A Guidebook to Dwarves coming out sometime this year and Paradigm Concepts has their first race book, Eldest Sons: The Essential Guide to Elves, coming out in August.

So you should hopefully find some that are useful to you.
