D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

I don't, but thank you. It looks like it's in... the Dungeon Master's Kit? That strikes me as very strange decision, considering everything else is in the Player's Handbook.

The Dungeon Masters Kit (or more precisely, the Dungeon Masters Book that comes in the kit) has a section on magic items, some that also appear in one of the "Heroes of..." books and some that are only in the DMB.

I'll take your word on it. It's a rather awkward decision to make all the same. There's no reason for WotC to assume that people running Encounters have the DMK, especially since there's little reason for DMG owners to buy one, and older players are (I assume) more inclined to be trying to introduce new players to the game than absolute newbies. Moreover, they don't mention where the items are to be found, so they have to assume someone HAPPENS to have the right product or HAPPENS to have DDI. Hopefully in the next season they won't make so many assumptions.

Its not awkward at all, the campaign assumes Essentials. The DM's Kit is Essentials, therefore the magic items contained their in are fair game.

Why would they limit the campaign to two player books?

That being said, I would keep tabs on the official forum for Season 4 because there are all sorts of folks making tools and cool stuff to support DMs and players. There isn't magic item cards yet up there, but I will bet they are coming soon...

The Fortune Cards are a completely optional mechanic, nobody is required to have them. The twitter buffs do revolve around their use, though.

Your old Renown Points cards are still valid as well, but you can only use one or the other; FC or RP, not both.

lol :p

In case you have a serious question there, the twitter buffs are just a side feature that augments your use of the cards. The cards themselves are sold at your FLGS.

Technically you don't even need a twitter account to use the buffs, just watch the stream at twitter.com/Wizards_DND and you'll get the up to date buffs there. You'll want to check out the FAQ for how they work though, it's a little different than last season.

Well, I didn't want to buy the cards and not be able to use them. I have no intention (nor do I have time) to mess with Twitter during the day.

You can use them without the twitter effects, twitter just augments their use.

The standard method for the cards is that you always have one per turn; you either draw one if you don't have one (and use it if desired), use the one you have, or elect to hold on to the one you have for later. Once a card is used, it is discarded until the end of the encounter when you reshuffle your deck and start over.

The twitter augments will let you do things like draw two cards and pick one of them, or pull a specific type of card out of your graveyard...stuff like that. They don't make the cards particularly more or less useful than they are right out of the package, just add a spin to things to make Encounters a little different.
