D&D General D&D Evolutions You Like and Dislike [+]

You're the one trying to dictate how everyone else should DM and claiming that anyone who does things differently lacks empathy and treats players as disposable.
I literally said I had a player who told me she has a concern with animal and child abuse in.game and @Lanefan suggested that I should have told her "we all want child abuse in our game, go play something else." How else am I supposed to take that?

Yes, there is a frightening lack of empathy for players on this board. Or at least a frightening amount of people acting like Internet tough guys who think X cards are for wimps. And frankly I'm sick of it. You want to say that a player who wants to play a Tortle in your game is being entitled, fine, I disagree but that's your opinion. A player who says "can we not abuse children in game?" Is grounds to get kicked? Sod off!

Listen, I don't care what the hell you do in your game, run FATAL if that is how you get your kicks. That player's reasonable request is worth more than all your games put together.

I'm done with this debate. Do not @ me.

I think X cards are a stupid idea and they're based off BDSM consent forms apparently.

They've never come up ever in a real game. I do a player guide, group chat, session 0 and advertise for PG13+ when I for recruit.

I'm not American. Culturally we do it via an adult conversation. If theres multiple newbies involved I do a list of unacceptable behavior. No griefing, trolling, pvp, phobias, etc.

I've known my player pool generally 7, 15, 20 and 26 years. The newbies are coming up 2 years.

The strawmannong, gaslighting and insults are more entertaining at this point tbh. OMG I have a drama free, stable group that year+ campaigns that dont self destruct.

I filter out certain types of players,LN DM and ban the OP stuff. Might be doing something right.

Exactly.

Everyone should be comfortable and having fun while roleplaying and there are a variety of different and equally-valid ways you can work to ensure that.

I'm glad there's been an evolution away from the 5 Geek Social Fallacies with the recognition that toxic behavior needs to be dealt with.

If someone can't handle differences or disagreement in a mature way then they shouldn't be at the table.
