D&D eXperience Question

Over the past couple of months I've been going back & forth about heading down to the D&D Experience. Right now I'm contemplating making it a day trip on Saturday. I would like to know how practical it is.

Looking online, I'll I see is info on the hotel and on the event schedule, There is nothing on any cost to enter the event as a walkup. Is it prereg only? Are the fees only for events?

Anyone have a link to someplace with this info or, barring that, just happens to know?

I think it's actually free. I'm here at the moment, but I don't have that info handy; I'll try and find out if I'm right and post an answer later.

I'll find out tomorrow.

Speaking of which, I signed up (and paid) for a game. I got a confirmation email, but never got a ticket or anything in the mail. Is that normal, or am I going to have a hassle on my hands?

There is no cost for entrance - all events are handled on a pay for play basis (How many on-site tickets for events that will be available is suspect though). But if you are interested in just showing up and getting as much info as possible - you are in for a great treat.

Just got a confirmation on Priceline - staying at the Hyatt for $70 - ah capitalism, how I love thee.

Will try and get some really good pics for the site up in a few days time.

PS Rodrigo my friend, I think you might be screwed - bring your confirmation information, the actual paid events are small in number, maybe they can use the info to help you out. I would get there bueacoup pronto mein amigo. (any other languages I can butcher while I'm at it?) :D

Yeah, good advice.

I could tell by their website they were bush league. I'm really not surprised. And it's only $6, at least.

FYI the full preview games of 4E in Living Forgotten Realms are sold out. To get your 4E fix you can join one of the many 30 minute Delve adventures, a pure hack-n-slash introduction to 4E.

Yup, I knew that. I'm mostly going to see what sort of things I can see, seminars I can sit in on, promos I can pick up and maybe get in a game or two.

I was hoping to run into Keith Baker (a friend of mine used to work with him, and if I spend that night that's who I'll be staying with), but it seems he isn't going to be there. Anyone else I get to meet will be a bonus.

Sorry I forgot to follow up last night, but fortunately others have covered for me. Free entry; pay-for-play events running from $1 to $6.

You've missed the 4E seminar; pretty much all that's left is gaming. And a lot of that's sold out. It may still be worth a visit, though--given how busy it is here, it wouldn't surprise me if they found a way to add events or get some 4E material into people's hands for open gaming. [Disclaimer: Not a promise, and I'm not writing in ANY official capacity.]

Keith Baker isn't here, but there are a whole lot of WotC R&D and Brand folk, including Chris Perkins, James Wyatt, Andy Collins, Mike Mearls, Rob Heinsoo, the Rouse, Linae Foster, Sara Gerard, and I'm sure others I'm overlooking. So even having missed the seminars, you can still get in some face-to-face Q and A with the designers.

Good luck!
