Yeah, I saw this. The truly disappointing thing about it is that it is only open to residents of the USA and Canada. Bit of a slap in the face for all the other D&D fans around the world.

Uhm maybe they just want only a few thousand instead of hundreds of thousand to go through. Or something else. I don't think it's a slap, just "hey let's not deluge ourselves since we are only doing this at a Con, not for the entire D&D community"

Nightfall, I don't quite buy that. I think they're using the word "worldwide" a little bit too much to suggest that it's just a "Con and not the whole D&D community".

Personally, I think the real reason is that they don't want someone from overseas to win it, and make that trip to LA cost a bit extra. And that's where I think it DOES become a slap in the face. They're happy enough to take our money, but unwilling to run the risk of having to fork out an extra thousand dollars on airfare.

Oh well. Maybe we'll just put one together anyway, and enter it under a fake name and US address. It'd be a laugh if someone did that and had to turn down the prize.
