Folks, with respect, correlation does not imply causation.

We have been seeing an uptick in spam and questionable account creation since before any recent gaming-world dust-ups. I know we want to have every event have some nefarious intent and be able to point a finger at a bad guy, but there's no real evidence that this was anything other than garden-variety spamming. It happens every once in a while.

Let's not get carried away with speculation.

My father wrote Illumintatus! so I get a free pass on conspiracy theories =)

I don't know if it helps debugging in any way. I was unable to view new content, but content that was posted before the attack was viewable. The only exception (possibly), is when new content was at the end of a page with pre-attack content.

threadbust, but you know which two authors have unfortunate names? Robert Charles Wilson and Robert Anton Wilson.

That said, I guess there are a lot of famous Robert Wilsons

Noted of course that it was Robert Shea who was fortunate enough to have a son become a well-known RPG renaissance-man

Speaking of whom, and Wikipedia, is it just me or is it criminal that there's no wikipedia page for Michael Shea? And in point of fact, for many of the luminaries in the ttrpg space?

(final codicil and mental meander - did you know that our Richard Barton of Arden Vul fame, is NOT the Rich Barton who co-founded Zillow? NOR is he founding guitarist of the Dropkick Murphys! Well now you do)

Naturally, I read this while taking a break from reading Robert Charles Wilson. Specifically, The Chronolotjs, in which coincidence and synchronicity play a very important part.

I have like 5 books... sitting on my to-read pile.

Five?
Amateur. I have dozens. :)

The pandemic, for many, was a chance to read a ton. After all, we weren't going out and spending time with people, right? We could spend time with books safely.

Unfortunately for me, the stress of it took that from me. For years, I could not muster the concentration to sit and read for an extended period of time. It has been a bunch of work to get that concentration back, and it still isn't what it was.

And I have a ton of gratitude for the authors who wrote the things I could start concentrating on.
