D&D Heroscape

Crothian

First Post
Got my copy of the Underdark Heroscape game in the mail today as a nice surprise. I'm just now looking through it but I'm a fan of Heroscape and D&D so I expect to like this. :D

If I was teasing I'd be more like "Ha Ha, look I what I have that Tom doesn't! Neener Neener neener!"

It comes with 10 figures that I think look more like D&D minis then Heroscape figures. we get a Dragon, a troll, 4 Drow, and 4 adventurers.

It has a pretty neat dungeon campaign set up. If we do the 2 day Ohio Game day it could be fun to play some Heroscape there.

Cool! For some reason, I didn't think this came out until February.

This will be the first WotC D&D product I've bought since the 3.5 PHB. (Assuming someone doesn't give it to me for Christmas.)

I'm not overly familiar with Heroscape. Can someone fill me in about this? Is it a boardgame scenario sort of idea? I also assume it is its own entity and doesn't get used with the 4e game, right?

Yes, it is its own enity. Heroscape is a board game but the board is made of many pieces allowing for great customization of the battle ground. The figures are either solos or squads. They have attack and defense dice, move and range of attack. They can also have specail attacks and abilities. Each has a point value so armies are bought or drafted. The game comes with specific scenerios but creating ones own are very easy. It is mostly designed for two players; I've never tried it with more.

Cool, thanks.

Are the 2 players working together or against one another?

I've seen the pieces and I'm wondering, is it not possible to buy additional terrain hexes so that they would be useful for regular 4e use or does it take to long to assemble a room or is the ddm base size not conducive to the hex use?

2 players are against each other. I think one could use it for normal D*&D if you wanted, might be a pain to assemble lots of different battlefields though.

Forgive me but when I went to the Heroscape preview it seemed the miniatures for that game were just repainted D&D minis. Is that supposed to be that way or did I click on the wrong thing?
