D&D in d20 Modern

psychognome

First Post
Yesterday this really weird thought popped into my mind: how do the people who live in the world of d20 Modern, and especially Urban Arcana, perceive D&D and other RPG's? I can see that there could be several different approaches:

-The Shadow is just a manifestation of people's deepest dreams: in the time of fairy tales and such belief in magic was great, and thus the Shadow manifested itself very strongly. With the Age of Reason the Shadow dwindled, but with the coming of D&D and the whole RPG phenomena, the Shadow has turned into a mirror for the whole world's D&D geeks' wildest dreams. :D In this way D&D offers the current truth about the Shadow, but it might change in years to come.

-The Alternate Reality: this is the approach used by White Wolf in the World of Darkness: the world is not the real world, just an alternate universe with great similarities with the real world. In the World of Darkness there is a great RPG company named Black Dog. (compare to White Wolf) Maybe the Urban Arcana setting has a company called, I dunno, Sorcerers of the Plains. The secret is that their products are inspired by the "real world" and the Shadow, and they don't even know it. ;)

So, anybody want to comment on this?
