I was afraid this thread would be able some confused bloke commiting atrocities and the news blaming it on EVILS of devil-worshiping, metal music, and/or D&D!

Regarding the picture and troops, all I can say without breaking the "no politics" rule is that I drank a round to them tonight.

Being familiar with the Syracuse Post Standard, I think it's likely they didn't quite realize what the soldiers were doing in that picture, despite the caption.

One of the mainstay members of the gaming group I mentored for my son and his friends is currently deployed. His father, with whom I gamed regularly 20 years ago, says he wasn't surprised when his son asked them to ship his gaming trunk to his US duty station last year.

Sorry to hear about Twilight ... somehow I do not remember hearing about this one from my friends back in Syracuse over the years. Course with my memory they could have indeed told me and I just forgot. Ah well.
