Digital Insider #16: Builder Beta Feedback

Magazine Back Issues

We’ve changed our short-term policy with respect to full issue compilations. Until we launch our long-term solution (which will give you access to exactly those magazine PDFs from the months when you were a subscriber), we’re just going to make all issues available to all subscribers. In other words, we’re not going to pull down the October issues when the November compilations go up at the end of this month.

Lots of interesting stuff in there and its all pretty much good news. I love that we are going to see next month's calendar on Friday. Any bets on which class we're going to see; I'm guessing that it will be previewed in the Ampersand article?

Still no news on the Paypal being activated :(. Foriegners are gamers too! ;)

For the forseeable future I shall have to remain scavenging the scraps of info that fall in the forums.

Lots of good stuff listed here, some things beside the above that caught my eye:

The Compendium is getting some nice improvements.
Search and Filters: The biggest improvement is that you’ll be able to run a text search and filters at the same time. This upgrade lets you find, for example, all 14th-level monsters that include the term "slide" in their descriptions. You can now find what you're looking for more quickly.
Powers Filters: We are also adding filters for the Powers category. You’ll be able to narrow your powers search and focus on what you're looking for.
Printer Friendly: The detail pages of the Compendium will now print out nicely. Firefox has trouble with multipage printouts, but IE handles them fine.
Minor Touches: We are also making a few minor changes the user interface, such as being able to sort results by column in reverse order.

Meanwhile, I have seen an advance copy and I’m pretty excited to report that in addition to the usual collection of awesome feature articles it includes both an official playtest of new weapons and magic items from Adventurer’s Vault 2 and also a sneak preview of the first few levels of another class from Player’s Handbook 2.

Why not just use your Visa directly?

They don't seem to allow South African cards, I have tried several times :(. The one disadvantage of living in this beautiful country.

Will pop an email off to the customer service and see what I can find out.

My favorites:
We’re going to start publishing our Editorial Calendars before the new month actually begins. This means you can look forward to seeing the December calendar, which will detail both the features planned for the pay side of the website along with the ones that will be free, on Friday.
YAAY! I love the Editorial Calendar. Yes, sometimes they move things around, but still, I like an idea of what we're getting, and when. And we're getting each month SOONER! Hurrah! :D

This is me, drooling. I all ready have a Bard and a Barbarian in my game, I am chomping to see what we get next.

 Is it opposite day? Because WotC just made a rationale, popular decision on their digital slate that I approve of. Good move.

Of course they also suggest that it's not going to last and they'll eventually try to make people pay for earlier material (something I've never seen a subscription site do, ever). So two steps forward, one step back. But at least a step forward. But I still end up reading it as either the billing system for back issues isn't fully finished yet, or they needed something to boost short term subscriptions. So some praise from me and then taking some back. ;)

Yes, they do. I got mine to work, eventually. The trick turned out to be to not change the currency to rands. Could that be what's causing the problem for you too?

Edit: Awesome that worked, thanks for the advice!
