Dire Bare
Legend
Dragon and Dungeon Magazines are very different beasts from any other periodical (well, other than other gaming periodicals, of course). Back issues of most magazines lose value greatly as time passes. Who reads Newsweek from six months ago, unless you are doing research?Of course they also suggest that it's not going to last and they'll eventually try to make people pay for earlier material (something I've never seen a subscription site do, ever)
The crunchy articles in Dragon and the adventures in Dungeon are just as useful as time passes (barring edition changes). Their new plan seems quite sensical to me. Eventually, as a subscriber, I'll be able to download willy nilly any issue that was released while I was a paying subscriber. Issues that were released before I started my subscription I'll have to pay for separately if I want them. Sounds fair to me.
