D&D Miniatures Defunct?

Felon

First Post
Man, I have drifted far from the pulse. It was only a few days ago that I saw the Wizards website facelift. I clicked on the D&D Miniatures link to see if there were previews for the next set, and what I got was a rather nondescript article archive. I guess that beats the D&D miniatures Wikipedia page, which looks like it hasn't been updated in over a year, but that ain't saying much.

Is the minis line cancelled? I've searched the threads but nothing jumped out a tme.

Savage Encounters is going to be a great set.

All that said, the mini preview wasn't even on the main page for me this morning.

I got the impression that D&D miniatures aren't the focus for Wotc at this moment.

I want a few copies of the tiefling necromancer. Dynamic pose, yet simple outfit, shame he's rare. The zombie hulk looks decent in the new preview picture too.

I like the death giant to.

Heh, the 'fallen villager' mini seems rather pointless to me.

It's one of the most popular minis on DDMspoilers. Dungeon decoration, plot scene, etc.

I have a house rule where dead enemies mean dificul terrain, so that can be useful :)

Do the new sets still include skirmish stats? Has the skirmish system changed from 3e days?
The new sets no longer include skirmish stats. They come with full RPG stat cards though. That said, you can still get skirmish stats for the new miniatures at DDM Guild, an officially licensed fan-run website for the skirmish game.

The answer to the second part of your question is yes, the skirmish system has changed. Just before 4e came out, they updated the rules. They put-out a new starter set and a couple of additional sets before moving to the current system.

The current system is that WotC puts out PC minis in packages of three that people can see so that they know what their buying. Monster minis are packaged so that the buyer can see one of the miniatures (either a large or a huge) and the other 4 miniatures are random. The PC minis come with new power cards for 4e, while the monster minis come with full RPG stat cards. Both sets get skirmish stats from DDM Guild.
