D&D Minis on the Decline?

Plus shipping, for singles, which can add up.
Only from sellers who gouge on shipping. "$3 shipping for the first mini, plus $0.50 for each additional mini", is not a shipping rate, it is a shipping rape. There were a fair amount of sellers that had flat rate shipping.

Shipping rates are a reality when buying online. Best to bid on multiple auctions from one seller.

I don't buy that many of these things anymore, so a bit more never kills me.

Ddm 2.0

I think a big reason there's not a lot of interest is the fact that they're between versions. We don't have a printed rulebook or any real printed 2.0 cards yet. Like 4e, we're between the period where the last game is over but the new one hasn't yet begun.

I like a lot of the minis in DoD2 and I plan on likely buying a full set with 1 rare, 2 uncommon, and 4 commons. I did that for Desert of Desolation and I use them all the time.

I think my biggest DDM problem is that it is, by far, my greatest cost for D&D. I spend about $200 on a set every set which comes out about twice to three times a year. That's $600 a year on minis. I need to calm down...

Yet, with other sets, I found myself constantly going back and buying older ones over and over and getting railed on shipping every time. Rather than constantly hunt for a mini, I'd rather just own them all. I wish I could settle for non-rares but there are always rares that I really want.

I do have way too many minis but so what, its all for fun.

BTW, I like the Bugbear Headhunter. It's hideous but he'll scare the crap out of my players when I stick him on the table.

Maybe it was a dream, but IIRC, WotC will be updating the cards (pdf download I think) for the previously released minis so they can be played with the newer sets.

Thanks,
Rich
Well I have just started getting minis in anticipation of 4E, not 'cos I think it will need them more than 3E but I think that combat will be better with them. So (thanks to an order from oryan77 for 364 minis)I am on my way. I am buying them for 4E RPG but I would really like to have a go with DDM2.0, I have read the rules and they have interested me much more than the original.
So is rgard correct? Does anyone have a quote or link for the possible update of stats/card for 3E to 4E? I hope so, I may order a couple of 3E 12 packs if that is true.

Here's the link for the Desert of Desolation & Night Below 2.0 cards download:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20080124a

They also mention the schedule for the Unhallowed & 60 All-Star 2.0 cards.

It was made official that they will be converting every 1.0 set eventually, but they haven't announced a schedule as far as I know. It will probably take quite a while for that to happen though. I don't have a link of the official announcement on this, but it is well known that WotC announced they will convert everything to 2.0! *yay*

Well, the selection and quality have both gone downhill ever since War of the Dragon Queen, IMHO. It seems that 4E's whole point is to boost minis sales since it's about fighting more opponents and everything in the rules is about moving minis on a battlemat. Maybe WotC should try to make better minis instead of designing their new edition around minis if they want to boost minis sales.
