D&D minis should be arranged as...

Organizing my collection of minis at long last, and I was shocked to find that I had like six celestial dire badgers. Now perhaps it's just my odd thinking, but shouldn't something like this be uncommon as opposed to common.

On the other hand, I have one giant frog/toad, which I think is an uncommon figure.

It's probably just me, but sometimes I wish that they followed the D&D methodology of monsters more for arranging the frequency of the creatures. Some of the common monsters and characters are well, not that common in actual use, either coming from some esoteric source that a GM might not be comfortable using, or being monsters that come in singles to begin with, while others that are uncommon or rare, are usually used in groups.

Deathknell Giant Frogs are common as dirt. I agree that monsters should be organized by frequency, but this often isn't viable for skirmish or when sculpting is concerned. Plus, they sell more boosters by making things such as Blue and Red Slaad Rare.

The frequency does seem a little off for some. I would prefer fewer common slots dedicated to "new monster just released in our latest book." The wrackspawn and catfolk both come to mind.

Aye, hav to agree with ya DreadPirateMurphy,
I've enough wrackspawns for an army and I 'ave only plundered one case so far. ;)

OTOH, Celestial Dire Badger is is on the (IIRC) Summon Monster I list, making it quite easy for players or NPCs to use a Summon Monster III to pull up d4+1 of them. I'm keeping 5 of them for that possibility.

Good point on that. While I know about the summon monster spells, using a higher level version to summong multiple lesser creatures is one thing I hadn't actively thought about.

Commons have to be easy and cheap to make. The Wrackspawn only came about because several other figures were abandoned as too difficult for commons.

Cheers!
