D&D Minis...WotC to make old ones OOP?

Hi Gang,

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else on the message board, but does anybody know if WotC intends to keep selling expansion packs for Harbinger, Dragoneye and Archfiends?

I know that the entry pack will be reintroduced with one of the upcoming new lines/series, but I'm wondering if they will continue selling the original lines in expansion boxes.

I believe Harbinger is already out of production, although inventory still exists in some stores.

With the re-release of already produced minis, I think it's very safe to assume WotC will not continue production runs indefinitely.

None now available, but several will be included in the Giants of Legend expansion, due out around June 18th.

The Rumored resculpts (strongly rumored as pictures are turning up) include:

Lidda
Werewolf
Minotaur
Redgar

Further Rescultps are expected in Aberations due out later this year including:

Krusk
Ember
Mialle
Tordek
Ogre
Troll


It should be noted that while there are existing figures for these mini's, what is not know is whether the stats for the figures will be exactly the same as the original. It is highly likely that the Iconics will get a new sculpt, and buffed up stats.

I certainly hope so. The levels for the iconics were pretty sad IMO.

And Lidda was small, even for a halfling. The Halfling Outrider, even without his dog, was like three times her size.

The stats for the Harbinger Werewolf and Minotaur should be exactly the same as the Giants of Legend Werewolf and Minotaur, but the sculpts will look different.

All D&D Miniatures sets have limited releases. WotC are not going to produce them indefinitely - no company does. Those monsters and character types that are useful for the RPG will be redone again and again. Ogres, Trolls, Orcs, Halfling Rogues, etc. - you'll have plenty of chances to get them.

Incidentally, Rob Heinsoo has chimed in with the Wizards future policy on resculpts:

"I wanted to say a couple words about resculpts, creatures that have the same names and stats but have new sculpts. Don't take the number of resculpts in Giants of Legend as a sign of how we intend to do things in the future.

"In future sets, we've opted to make new minis with different stats and powers that can fill the same niche as an earlier creature in rpg play. FYI, I believe there are only two resculpts in the Aberrations set and no resculpts in the set that comes after Aberrations. The Giants of Legends resculpts are a temporary move rather than the policy we'll be following in the future."
