D&D Monster Index (April 2007)

Awesome Gothenem, Thanks. I've added those to the spreadsheet. I think only the Monster Rulers and Notion haven't yet been updated to 3.5.

OK now, I hope you’re not counting the little abbreviated stat blocks that just replicate info from other books because I’m not counting them. ;)

Orcs of Thar (GAZ10)

No monsters, unless you’re talking about monster PCs! A lot of Latin-sounding names for evil humanoid races are included.

Legions of Thyatis (DDA2)

No monsters. Nice Brom cover BTW – you might think it was a Dark Sun product until you open it up. ;)

Eye of Traldar (DDA3)

No monsters.

I only count those if they are for creatures not found elsewhere, otherwise no.

Does Orcs of Thar have racial modifiers for any new orc races in it? I have been trying to track those in the index.

No monsters.
Thanks!

Well, at one point in Orcs of Thar, they talk about crossbreeding the monsters, and come up with modifiers for a genuine Groll (Gnoll/Troll Mix).

I think that might count.

I'm not at home, so I can't give you a page count, and I'm not sure if I can even FIND my Orcs of Thar book. :(

i'll have to check those again. note that the book details not only orcs, but goblins, gnolls, etc.

Well you're half right :)

Jamie has converted both but they have yet to make it to the Vaults. I guess they will there in the next update.

If you want a quick look before they make it to the Vaults then you can find the Monster Rulers here and the Notion here.

Regards
Mortis

Oh, and pretty much all of the issues of Imagine magazine which ran from 1983 to 1985. I don't know if Imagine actually printed any new creatures, but I'd like to check.
Ha! I just snared a complete set of Imagine magazines on Ebay, so I'll be able to add those to the index once they arrive .

Ah, Orcs of Thar - the book that ended up a badly produced bit of parody.

The attribute adjustments for the Thar races seem a bit different. They are summarized here:
Kobold: -4 Str, +3 Dex. +2 natural armor. d4 HD
Goblin: -3 Str, +1 Dex, +1 Con. +1 natural armor. d8-1 HD
Orc: +1 Str, -1 Dex. +1 natural armor. d8 HD
Hobgoblin: +1 Str, -1 Dex. +1 natural armor. d8+1 HD
Gnoll: +1 Str, -2 Wis, +1 Dex. +1 natural armor. 2d8 HD
Bugbear: +1 Str, -2 Wis, +1 Con. +1 natural armor.3d8+1 HD
Ogre: +2 Str, -1 Wis, -1 Dex, +1 Con. 4d8+1 HD
Troll: +2 Str, -2 Int, -2 Wis, -2 Dex, -2 Cha (ouch!). 6d8+3 HD

* Natural armor taken as 9 - AC listed on p. 15 OoT PG (naked D&D characters are AC 9).
* Starting HD as a level 0 tribesman.

Worth creating separate Mystara subraces, probably not. But there you go :)

Tzeentch, do you have the pages where each of those racial adjustments/descriptions appear? I'll add them to the index, just in case.

The Orcs of Thar
Player's Guide section
p. 14 has the racial ability modifiers
p. 15 lists their armor class
p. 16 has the experience table and starting HD

* According to the book you convert "humanoid Charisma" to "human Charisma" by using the following formula: 9 - (Humanoid Charisma /3, rounded down) <shrug>
