Contrary to popular beliefs, the most dangerous animal is not the lion or tiger or even the elephant. The most dangerous animal is a shark riding on an elephant, just trampling and eating everything they see.

Thank you, Mr. Handy.

No need to add Dire or any other templates...

I think Vampires, Mummies, Flesh Golems, Locathah, and Werewolves would make great Hollywood Movie monsters!

Hey, waitaminute... :o

Watch the background characters in the the Star Wars movies you will see the mindflayers.
Bald 4 tentacled faced humanoids.
Those are Quarren, a well established Star Wars race. I'd given some thought to putting in a Quarren Force Adept/Dark Side Devotee into my new game as a recurring villain who controls people's minds and has this bizarre cannibalistic streak about eating people (especially their brains), but the I realized that my PC's would likely throw large, heavy objects at me for doing that.

Heck, we're likely to see honest-to-Mystra Illithid on TV soon enough, with Sci-Fi channel making an "Urban Arcana" TV series. I know the movie rights to D&D are all tied up, but I doubt Urban Arcana is as entangled, so modern-day people fighting beholders and illithid could be more likely than we thought.
