D&D 5E D&D Next is a crappy name.

I would have guessed something like "Anniversary Edition," except that would mean it doesn't get published until late 2013 or early 2014.

EDIT - Which I suppose could be the correct time frame...

I just imagine that being the actual name, and then a few years down the road they announce 6e.

"I'm not changing editions! I'm sticking with D&D Next!"

But not as depressing as their current recall of 4e books and putting stickers on them that say "D&D Previous".

Lettering is not a bad idea. But if we keep to numbers, I will continue to doggedly refer to 7th Edition. OD&D and BD&D, ye shall not be forgotten!

Edit: Stupid spelling mistakes.

Check the books... there's no 3E or 4E on cover.

5E will be called Dungeons & Dragons, as usual.

DDN is just a name use to make clear what edition it refers...

Pfft. If you're lumping Holmes, B/X, BECMI, and the Rules Cyclopedia into one edition, you're doin' it wrong. I shall continue to doggedly refer to 10th edition. Take that, feeble edition numbering system! Bwahahahaha!!!

Somewhere in the General Forum there is a thread I started not too long ago on how many editions there had been. How exactly to classify Holmes, B/X, BECMI and RC was a topic of debate, and still we came to the conclusion that it could be referred to as one edition.
