Thanks for the clarification, Jolly.

Sounds like D&D was brought up by the lawyers, or witnesses, but the commentators took it to the next step, or implied that it was a negative.

Will read through the info on the web site. Thanks for the link.

No problem. Wow!! I just read a few of the posts on their discussion board. D&D (and gamers) are getting a real beating over there.

Hmmm,

actualy it seems that the DNDers are holding their own on the board and the Internet article focused on the religon (could we have an inside man. :) ).

What made me really cringe is that someone just had to post a "DND is not evil." Until then, I didn't see a post that even addressed DND, and the only negative response back was to weak that it wasn't worth responding to.

Sometimes we seem to ask for this.
"Tis better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

It reminds me of a magazine article I read about the actress who plays the vulcan on Enterprise. She got wierded out when some ST fans came up to her and said, "We don't mean you any harm."

HELLOOOOOO! That just screams "unbalanced" to someone who's not into the whole scifi thing. Now the actress is sort of scared.

What can I say, relax, and don't over compensate.

I dunno, Jolly - unless you were following it earlier than I was, the score I have seen so far is:

Dungeons and Dragons 13
Game of Evil 3

But then, I have only read the most recent 75 posts or so.

correction: make that 13 to 3.

Hey, some posts are now missing. Weird. (There were 13 this morning on D&D and now there are only 9.) I notice the boards are moderated-- they must be heavy handed. The score looks a little more even now.

FWIW, I don't think D&D has been raised in the trial as something that caused his rampage. There's a lot of evidence that the shooter concocted his Nazi story before the shooting and is making a conscious effort to look insane. They found several psychology texts and books on faking mental illness in the guy's home. According to the local paper, the prosecution brought up the guy's long years of playing D&D as evidence that he is accustomed to building stories, using his imagination, and is a practiced storyteller.

It's much more of a "He played D&D, so he has the creativity and practice at making up consistent stories to build a convincing lie" rather than "He played D&D, so that made him do this."

That's STILL something I don't want D&D being known for - creating convincing alibi's for murder! :)

Golf has spokesmen like Jack Nicholas and Tiger Woods; Tennis has people like Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. Basketball has Michael Freaking Jordan.

D&D has Mucko McDermott, Bink Pulling, and the Columbine Assassins.

Yay.
