D&D Open tournament adventures

Does anyone know where these adventures go?!

Every year, the D&D Open event is run at GenCon. Some previous years released actual modules (it has been quite awhile since that happened though). But, very few are ever seen again.

I am now looking to obtain copies of the past 3 adventures (2000-2002) run for the Open, but have had no luck. I'm hoping that the Planescape "Cutters" adventure is included in that...I think that was run in 2000...

I have emailed the RPGA (I'm waiting on a response...although, it is definitely not in their listing of tournaments available), have tried to contact Larry Hull (lost his email address), and have done exhaustive internet searches (even pouring through the numerous D&D yahoo groups).

Does anyone know where I can find/purchase/obtain a copy?

Can't anybody help this poor lost member of our family? This dude's got real needs and so far, no help. I am just a stupid wanna-be, I am no serious gamer, I don't have his answers.

For the love of the game help fathead out!

Thanks Toe! I had given up on this post and let it slip into the En World void, where it would sit...lonely and unread. You must have delved deep into the previous posts to save this one...
:)

As an update, I have made other posts, scoured yahoo groups, and emailed the RPGA to the point of annoyance. Sadly, I have yet to make any progress...

I wish I could help, but don't know either. I would be interested myself if someone has an answer.

In the meantime, I thought I would comment on your avatar...very nice. I think it's the colors that makes it appealing.

Do you have more information on the actually modules used? Piratecat has some pull with the RPGA and should be able to do something by way of helping if more information was at hand.

Don't hold your breath on this one; I think they vanish into the ether, never to be seen again. I'll see what I can find out, though, if you happen to know any of the module names. :)

Caudor, thanks for the compliments on my monkey head.

I'd like to personally give you an award for most frightening clown. I believe that you'll have to be content with a 2nd place trophy though...1st place has already gone to GrimJesta on the Hackmaster boards.

PirateCat,

I only have the names of a few:

"Cutters" - it was a Planescape tournament...I believe that it was run in 1999, but I'm not positive.

"Proving Grounds" - it was run last year, actually.

"Under a Pale Sky" - I'm not positive about the name here...but it's fairly close. That was run in 2000, I believe.

I have also been inquiring into the Open tournament run in 2001, but I can't recall the name right now. I'll see if I can find the prereg book for that year and get the name.

If you could manage a "Summon Retired D&D Tournaments", I'd be happy to pay the required gp! How difficult IS it to summon a tournament back from the ether?!

:Fathead rummages through his money pouch, procures a few copper pieces, and offers it pathetically...

Hi!

I ran some rounds of the Open last year and I can tell you that the adventures are not to be distributed. I know that we were not allowed to give out copies to the players after the rounds were over. I assume this is a licenscing/copyright issue. You might have some luck contacting the authors directly also - if I rummage I might be able to produce a list of names.

BTW This years Open tornement - The Sword of Cuthbert - sounds really cool and was written by some great people. I encourage people who like tornement play to sign up, it should be an awesome Open this year :)

I've already signed up a team for the Sword of Cuthbert, so I'm set to go... :D

In the past, these adventures were often distributed to clubs as a benefit to the RPGA Clubs program...but, the clubs program is defunct now. I know that these adventures are not available through the RPGA online ordering system either...not for the lack of trying...

I still haven't been able to find any help on this one. Does anyone have any additional insight? If not, I'll resolve myself to the idea that the adventures do indeed disappear into the ether, as suggested... :)
