My friend's son has his Eagle Scout Ceremony on Saturday. And he's a D&D player to boot! I mean, where are his priorities? ;)

I ran a session of this at our meetup last weekend as a warm up for the big event (since two of the players were DMs for the game day it equated to a slot zero). Players still grumbled about pregens... they always do. But this is an essentials game, and you really can't make an essentials character yet without the books.

It's a fun adventure, reminds me a lot of old school d&d, but there is something I thought could work better:

[sblock]The encounter with the runes, they never really came into play much because the players were leery of them... also they never took the time to disarm them because they were only doing a little damage to one player per round.

My suggestion, make them a close burst 1 effect... that will get their attention and have them be more of a factor in the combat.

The dragon fight at the end was deadly as expected, but the party still triumphed... but only after I killed half the party. I expect to hear about TPKs at our event.
[/sblock]

We have 29 RSVP's right now... I expect more this week. We are running 7 tables, probably 8 by the time all is said and done.

We are giving away two copies of the red box set at our event to players who sign up and RSVP correctly (we are trying to encourage proper sign ups). If that goes well we will probably give away a copy of Gamma World for that gameday.

Apparently, I need to move to Pasadena.

Games Day

I will be running the Red Box Game Day at my local FLGS, Mayhem Comics in Des Moines IA. The event starts at noon. I will also be running Castle Ravenloft demos throughout the day. The store is running a 24hr game day and will be open all night on Saturday. Lots of games and fun to be had all night long.

Hmm... maybe I should move to Des Moines instead

I'm taking a road trip out to NJ to run it at Gamer's Gambit right smack in the middle of GambitCon 5 (2 pm on Saturday)!

And the Pasadena D&D meetup is fantastic! That's where I played before moving back to NYC. I recommend it to anyone in the area!

Two of the players in my group are from Ballarat, might be worth them checking it out.

The rest of the guys are from geelong, so maybe the good games down here is running one. I doubt it though, I went in and asked about the red box and they were trying to get me to DM. Sounded a bit needy :)

Could be. I have a feeling they didn't manage to get around to sanctioning the event; as a result they'll probably borrow one of our kits to run it.

I've just given the adventure to our second DM, so we should be able to run two tables at a time from 1pm, perhaps more if someone else volunteers to DM.

Cheers!
