Apparently this D&D-related book, subtitled "A Survival Guide for the Forgotten Realms" will be released on October 8th 2024.

A preview of the cover and some of the pages have been released.

The format will be Hardback, 128 pages.

Yes, just like the game D&D is aimed at early teens.

I guess who are going "to enjoy like dwaves" are the preteens, the true target, happy reading things "for older boys".

Maybe in the future there is a survival guide por Spelljammer, Ravenloft, Planescape or Dragonlance. Why not a Dark Sun Survival Guide if this is focused mainly in wild zones far from the city-states of Tyr?

My opinion is when little children are creating characters and realms with their imagination, even when no dice is thrown, they are also playing D&D, and Hasbro will be happy because this will mean more brand power, and more merchandising to be sold.

A more OSR take on the same idea is Through Dungeons Deeper: A Survival Guide For Dungeoneers As Written By A Survivor. I haven't read it myself, but it gets good reviews.

I looked at the book and it had a chapter on the 10 axioms of D&D, so I googled and it came up with this thread from 22 years ago. I see a lot of 1st posters, but I also found @orbitalfreak last seen an hour ago still around.

Kinda.

I work with middle-schoolers, ages 11-13, and the Players Handbook (2014) is beyond most of them. This book, and the Young Adventurers series, is more their speed.
