All you have to do is create an evil NPC using the character builder, and send it to WotC before January 1st. If you win, you will play the NPC in the movie, which is shooting in Louisiana and is called Book of Vile Darkness. Yes, this is serious; and you can find out more here.

• Elven Features Necromancers of the Northwest designer Josh Zaback provides a number of feats and alternate racial features designed solely for 4th-edition elves.
• D&D comes third in Jonathan Ross' top 100 UK Toys Channel 4 in the United Kingdom just aired a programme looking at the country's favourite toys. The poll was conducted partly through the internet and partly with a professional pollster. Lego came first, Monopoly second and surprising to some, D&D third. Take a look at the full list here.

• RPG SUPERSTAR deadline looms! In a little less than two weeks, the open call for Paizo Publishing’s RPG Superstar contest—the largest and most successful game designer talent search in the industry—ends, and those wishing to submit an entry for consideration have until 2pm on December 31, 2010 to do so.
• Alluria Publishing's 3D Combat Solutions Alluria Publishing presents their solutions to 3d combat for both aerial and aquatic adventure in "Three Dimensional Combat Solutions." Their systems work with almost any system that uses miniatures and one inch squares as five-foot spaces (including most editions of Dungeons & Dragons and the Pathfinder RPG).

• DCC RPG Open Beta Coming? This page on Goodman Games' forums hints that this is the case. "There will definitely be a public playtest edition. At this point the playtests are deliberate and focused on specific aspects of the rules that need examination. For example, the crit rules have changed quite a bit over the last couple months. But once the "baseline" is set, many people will be involved... "
