D&D special edition books

I'm curious how many people out there would like to see special editions fo the three core books released with the original 1st Edition AD&D cover art on them? I was totally underwhelmed by the collector editions WOTC brought out recently and think this would make a better choice for a special edition. I know a lot of old timers like myself would buy a set.

I was actively anti-whelmed by the "special editions". $75? Ha!

I would but the cover you suggested, though - that sounds cool. Still, I never bought the 3.5 version, so I don't know what it would take to get me to buy I book I already had. *Maybe* I'd buy a MM.

Not interested at all. And generally speaking, I think "special editions" are for fools, and most of the time don't have anything worth at all (see countless of special edition DVDs, possibly more than "regular edition" DVDs).

the first ed art was pretty lame, especially the MM. i can't imagine wanting to wrap 3e books with those, especially since the existing covers are so cool.

As tempting as that may be, I think this game geezer is satisfied with just his copy of the deluxe PHB. Besides, the cover have too much foam. How the hell can you hit a misbehaving player with a "nerf" book? I might as well bring a brick to run a session.

:]

No interest. Nostalgia has its place - but there's a reason Sutherland was not hired by WotC. That art simply does not cut it in 2005. At all.

I do plan on buying the Spec Ed of the DMG when the price is reasonable a year from now at some con. (I got my 3.5 Spec Ed PHB for $40 CDN - I was happy).
