My own silliness? I can't say brazier. It always comes out sounding like brassiere.

Had a DM at GenCon last year who did that. Everytime he'd say "glow from a flaming brassiere" my buddy and I would have to forcibly restrain ourselves from acting like Beavis and Butthead.

Tarrasque is "tuh-RASK", not "TARA-SKEW"

What is the reasoning for this? I've always pronounced it TARE-uh-skew myself.

those are the ones that get me.
people slaughter monster names and most other words of foreign (non-american) origin, but that doesn't bother me, it's just ignorance, and you can't fault anyone for that. that list includes a lot of things on this thread: brazier (anyone go to dairy queen?anyone?), ranseur, guisarme, tarrasque (tar-rask), falchion, coup de grace (coop-dee-gracie, i mean really), etc. Made up fantasy names i don't really care how they say it: drow, lloth, tannarri, bauriar, babau, etc.

Knew a guy who said "skimitar", "puhlidian (paladin), and "kaybald" (kobold).

When I joined a new gaming group a few years back, I discovered that they all pronounced paladin as "puh-LAD-in." At first, I though they were just joking around, then I realized they needed to consult the dictionary.

Inside jokes should usually stay there.

My wife and I defiantly refer to the killing blow as a "koop du graisey." You should see the looks we get when someone overhears.

Indeed. Tomb of Horrors and Tome of Horrors are distinguishable by more than spelling.

Oh...and the "sith" for scythe... the same guy in my group pronounced that "skythe".

Refering to sorcerers as "spontaneous casters."

Nowhere in the SRD or Core Books does it even imply this, but for some reason everyone seems to refers to them as such (including several designers - eg. Complete books).
