D&D Trill?

I saw a thread on the general forum about cross-gender reincarnation which reminded me a lot of things Dax used to say on DS9... Any thoughts on what a D&D Trill-type joined species might be like? I just thought it might be fun to play a succession of D&D characters each of which posseses the same symbiont... A really interesting and fun roleplaying experience... Do you know of any existing ones that might approximate this? How would you go about making something like that? Admittedly it could easily get broken mechanically if one weren't careful with the design, but I think it would be a blast to roleplay.

Total Tangent... I think I may try and design the DS9 crew as D&D characters... Odo, the Doppleganger Monk, Sisko the human... uh fighter? I'll have to give this a lot more thought...

I actually play Eberron's kalashtar as a very trill-like species. IMC, when a kalashtar dies, the quori part of their spirit returns to the nearest of a series of crystals, which serve as the focal point for their manifestation in the world. When two kalashtar have a child, they are essentially human until one of the quori spirits from those crystals are placed inside them. This is typically done quite early, while the child is still in infancy.

I added a few feats and prestige classes to allow the kalashtar to tap into this racial history. Without them, it's assumed that the quori spirit dumps its new memories into the communal pool, and leaves it as a relatively clean slate.

Mechanically, I wouldn't allow the PCs to retain all their knowledge and skills from previous lives - they might get a few skill bonuses, additional favored classes, or similar bonuses. The most basic feat I have allows a kalashtar to gain a +3 racial bonus on a skill check once per day. Other things build off that.
