There was a Game of Thrones article in Dragon, with a map of one of the keeps back in the day. It would be nice to see them do a full-blown D&D campaign world tied to Game of Thrones now, especially if they went the One Ring/Middle Earth route and were willing to modify the base game to fit GoT more closely.
At this point, they'd be more likely to do House of the Dragon instead. I don't think we've hit "actually, the last season of GoT was good, actually" stage in the nostalgia cycle yet and GRRM doesn't seem likely to release the next novel any time soon.

Ugh. More blended-up pop culture slop? This decade sucks.
I agree. I hate it.

It's so bad in Magic the Gathering. When it started it wasn't so bad, it felt like it would be one set. I saw some D&D and Tolkien. That's kind of a logical crossover. I don't mind a special event. But there's been so many cards printed in so many franchises (Transformers, Walking Dead, Jurassic Park, Fallout, Assassin's Creed). It's so bad, it muddles all the vibe of Magic and it feels like slop.

I would love if they offered more books and dove into the universe of Magic the Gathering for D&D. That's an amazing crossover, but the rest I'm not interested in.

It's probably smart. And I could see it taking the game some interesting places. I've long been a fan of integrating Final Fantasy in my D&D, I've worked Dark Souls-esque things into it, etc., etc.

It's smart for Wizards since it's easy to build on the MTG relationships -- "Hey, we had a lot of success bringing Spongebob Squarepants to Magic: The Gathering. It was a lot of fun. Let's do it again, but this time, bring Bikini Bottom to D&D!"

And then they'll make a boxed set where you have Spongebob (Cleric), Patrick (Barbarian), Squidward (Bard), Mr Krabs (Rogue), and Sandy (Monk) as premade characters and they go raid the vaults below the Chum Bucket. It'd be a bit like the Stranger Things or Rick & Morty or Acquisitions Inc stuff they've done already.

And the folks who find it amusing will buy it and the folks who don't care won't and it'll be a flash in the pan either way.

...I can already envision the D&D x K-Pop Demon Hunters boxed set...and I don't automatically hate it...(of course it comes with music you can play during the game...).

I'm cautious, but, hell, I'd love the chance to figure out how to capture these experiences in D&D. Sounds like some fun game design challenges.
