d20 Adventure Path: Project Javelin

I have to ask ... 2600s? How much future tech is going to be used? I'm hoping things like uber-cannons and cybernetics are not going to be too central to the campaign.

Can you tell us any more about the setting or the scenarios? I understand that the scenarios will be written by various people. However, I figure you have some guidelines for them to go by, or was the document linked from the WotC page the guidelines?

The document on the web page are pretty much the guidelines. One of the important things to keep in mind is that the various dimensions featured in the adventures are the settings found in the D20 Modern books. The campaign is structured so that it can appear to be a jumo forward or backwards in time, or include or exclude various elements, such as magic, psionics, etc.

Will the scenarios be PCs against the government/Nazis, or will there be an established "bad guy" or organization to go up against?

One of the things to keep in mind is that each scenario is designed to both stand alone, or be part of the larger campaign arc. As such, the bad guys will probably rotate from one adventure to the next, though they will all tie back to the aggressors from Dimension Zero. The Dimension Zero elements present in an adventure might be as little as one or two agents.

That will really depend upon the adventure. In some cases, there will be none, while in other cases there will be quite a bit. As is mentioned in the campaign primer, except under very special circumstances, the equipment the characters bring with them will adjust to tech level of the dimension they're entering.

The plot reminded me vaguely of the "Charlie Jade" - dimensional travelers stealing resources for their own world. But the rest of the background is clearly different (no future Nazis in CJ :) )

I'll wait and see. It would be nice to have some good adventures for D20 Modern...

So, when can we expect more updates on this? Also, what books will be suggested to be owned to run this?

Sadly, I don't know. I just write the stuff, the web department posts it. Generally speaking, they make one update to the D20 Modern website per week, but I know we're still waiting on the D20 Apocalypse web enhancement I wrote a while back, so your guess is as good as mine.

Hey, all. First post here, after years of just reading the forums! I'm also one of the authors for this project. Mr. Drader has done a good job of explaining what the adventure path entails, but there's a few points that need to be spelled out a bit more. The idea of Project Javelin is to let you and your gaming group make use the various d20 Modern accessories that Wizards has put out there. As Darrin mentioned, each adventure can function as a stand alone, or can be part of a series, with recurring themes and characters. In this way, you can play using Modern, Past, Future, and Apocalypse (and specific campaign settings within each book). If you don't own, or have no inclination to play, one of these settings, you can skip it and go to the next.

Free adventures = good!

2. Are the aggressors trying to prolong the life of their own world, their own dimension, or their own resources?

The predicate "stealing resources from other dimensions in a desperate attempt to prolong the life of their own" makes it pretty clear what the object in question is. Stealing from other dimensions to preserve their own dimension.

Now, you all know me, more or less. I'm an editor, and worse, a curmudgeon. I got all excited that Wizards was doing something more "game ready" with the d20 Modern page, and here they scuttle it for me with what appears to be laziness and/or sloppiness. (I know, I know...it wasn't personal. I hate to be negative, but as I say...I love the idea but was disappointed with the result before I even got to the download. :(

Well, I don't know you, but I'd say the problem is more yours than theirs. I do editing work. A lot of folks do--in all modesty, it's not exactly the profession of the elite. While the tagline isn't exactly the prettiest bit of prose I've ever seen, it certainly isn't confusing. I doubt the average reader will get the impression that the heroes' objective is to blow up their own world.

I appreciate the defense, but please don't go sniping each other over this.
