d20 Animals

First Post
I'm having some trouble finding resources with published d20 animals outside the Monster Manual. I've reviewed the "familiars" entry in a Dragon magazine (early 3.0 one); the Tome of Horrors, the Creature Catalogue website, and the two Animal Archives (prehistoric and South America) supplements. Oh! And Fiery Dragon's "Familiars" pdf.

I can't help feeling like I'm missing a number of other resources. Where are other animals available?

There's a bit here and there scattered all over the place. Someone needs to take all the OGL ones and combine it into one book, heck even as a PDF this would be great.

Tome of Horrors II has a good-sized animals appendix. Frostburn has more animals than you might expect, mostly prehistoric ones (so if you have another prehistoric PDF, this will be of limited use to you).

Demiurge out.

The animals I'm needing are mostly mundane creatures. Things like giraffes, moose, foxes, mountain goats, for any terrain and climate. I've got a number of nature-oriented characters in my group, and it's a well used aspect in our campaigns. :)

I was checking out the Creature Catalogue's new and converted animals. There weren't a great deal there, but I have the feeling that I was missing a few.

Of course, foxes and mountain goats are in the Unfamiliar Familiars pdf from Fiery Dragon, which you mentioned above.

Instead of looking for all animal stats you can find, take a look at the stats you *do* have and list all animals that could be covered with those stats.

For instance, "monkey" serves for lemurs, tamarins and other smaller primates. Step it up to "Small" and you have good-enough stats for chimpanzees, rhesus, spider monkeys and the like.

Similarly, between the Cat (MM), Wild Cat (Unfamiliar Familiars PDF), Cheetah, Leopard, Lion and Tiger you have enough stats to cover every feline animal in the world. Just tweak a skill point here and a feat there for variety, but 90% of the work is done.

Use light horse stats for a zebra, and with a -2 to Str and +10 feet on speed, they serve for antelopes, wildebeests, ibexes and the like. Step it up to Huge (without increasing Strength) and you have suitable stats for a giraffe.

Most animals will have only cosmetic changes, not actual new stats.

Klaus has the right idea...

For example...

Giraffe ~ Light Horse (perhaps increase its size to reflect the extra height)
Moose ~ Bison (remove Stampede, add a Hoof attack)
Fox ~ Dog
Mountain Goat ~ Donkey or Mule (maybe add a skill bonus to Jump)

You get the idea.
