D20 Apocolypse house rules

Wondering what other people have come up with for house rules? Here are a few things I think they overlooked to make the game grittier. I'd be interested in seeing what other people think and any house rules you can think of.

1) Ammunition Kits: Ammunition kits have limited production capability. Ammunition is made in batches of 10 with a single skill check (though the calibers do not have to be the same) however the kit has a limit of 100 rounds total before running out of gunpowder and bullets.

2) Med Kits/Pharmaceutical Kits/Surgical Suites: Each kit has a limit of 10 uses before running low on bandages, antibiotics and pain killers.

3) Water: Potable water is one of the most essential things in the world. 1L of drinkable water has a TU value of 1/2. A person needs at least 1L of water to survive in a cool/temperate environment, 2 in a warm 25 C + environment and 4 in a 30+ environment. There are various methods of purifying water available:

A) Boiling: The simplest and most commonly used method, boiling one liter of water takes approximately 10 minutes plus any time necessary to develop a heat source. It'll kill the majority of microbes in the water meaning that diseases can only be caught by drinking the filthiest of water, of course if a PC is drinking that a bit of cholera is probably the least of his worries. It does nothing for poisons however and absolutely nothing for radiation. Usually works ok if the water is coming from an uncontaminated stream somewhere that the devastation left relatively untouched. It can be assumed that any character who isn't fresh out of a fallout shelter would know to always boil water.

B) Purification tablets: Purification tablets simply have to be dropped into a canteen of water, each tablet will purify up to 1 liter of water. In addition to removing any microbes present in the water they break down most toxins present. They still do nothing for radiation contamination however and if the water is dirty enough they still won't help. A package of 20 tablets cost 8 TU's

C) Personal Water Filters: Personal water filters are one of the best methods of getting clean drinking water, they consist of multiple layers and a small hand pump that can convert all but the most fetid of water sources into clean good tasting water. They can even remove light radioactivity from the water tough there are limits, draining the bottom of a bomb crater isn't going to produce clean water no matter what you do to it. Each filter will support an individual for 6 months before the filters need to be changed requiring 2 mechanical parts with a parts DC of 10. Unused personal water filters cost 20TU's

D) Large Water Filters: Large water filters are some of the most highly valued pieces of equipment in the wastelands. Usually towed by a truck they are almost all military surplus equipment and running off a generator they can purify enough potable water to serve a settlement of 500. Every year they require 12 mechanical parts and a parts DC maintenance check of 25. They can also be jury rigged to run off of wind, water or even manual power though they do so less efficiently with a maximum sustainable population

Personally I'm going to take the Reloading Kit rule. One of my characters is playing a Resident Evil game based on the NEmesis one (where they had one), and I need to give him a limit.

The others would be good for later.

Yeah if I were to adopt that rule for the ammo kit I'd probably adjust the craft check to a simple (DC 15, 3 parts) for 10 bullets.
