Currently watching "Rose Red" on USA. This show has given me such a great example of who sanity works in CoC. Stephen King is very good at writing the kind of mind-ending stories that supposed to happen in Call of Cuthulu, without otherworldly strange things with amazing descriptions. Just a simple ghost story, and half the investagators are already out thier mind or dead.
Before that was langoliers, a less fleshed example of the events around them slowly driving the crew insane.
Joyce Readon- Obsesion, I think she stepped onto the house missing a healthy chunk of San.
Emery Waterman- Paranoia.
Okay, at this point, half the investigators are missing.
I think CoC might be also a very good thing to instigate in a standard campaign to deal with the occasional really freaky thing that happens to throw the normal parties for a loop. Even though Orcs won't drive you insane, ghost encounters and other undead might destroy minds appropriatly.
