JD: preach on, brutha. Bring the dino-word to the street. You can post long detailed historical/paleontological summaries ANY time.

And the only Surrey claw I'm aware of belongs to Baryonix, a very strange fish-eating dinosaur that was the first of it's kind discovered.

I didn't know that the book I got it from was so old (85), but it does mention a partial therapod skeleton which was discovered in 1982 that has a claw 3 times the size of Deinonychus.

It also has Velociraptor as a fish eater with a flatten skull (sort of like a crocodile).

Actually, I think it's great. I've been out of touch with a lot of what's going on in paleotology
in past few years. Speaking of which, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a question.
I'm thinking about getting an updated book on dinosaurs, and was wondering if you had any you'd recomend. Thanks.

Not really, but thank you for your efforts none the less. The Surrey claw was discovered in Surrey, England.

Nice link!

The Surrey claw did indeed belong to Baryonyx. That creature was about thrity feet long, had a crocodile like head, and ate fish. It's a relative of Spinosaurus, which, thanks to finding new fossils (the originals were destroyed during WWII), also had a flat head, large foreclaws and ate fish.

Demiurge out.
