I notice classes have been replaced by careers. To me, class and career are synonymous.

In some ways, it's a cosmetic change. However, I wanted to highlight moving away from the concept of classes as it is now. Also, if you are familiar with WHFRP at all, the Career system proposed is conceptually similar.
Careers do not follow levels at all. You can have a full career at level 1 and pursue a new career or add feats to enhance your career.

Characters can pursue as many careers, and simultaneously, without penalty.
They can also lose careers in certain circumstances.
Their set of skills and feats can also qualify them for careers even if they do not formally list them.

The word "class" as it stands in D20 implies a fixed development scheme and is tied to inching forward over several levels, and the dedication of a full character level at a time.
