[d20 Future] 22nd Century: Solar Odyssey to Hell. [The game]

Vincent Collins said:
"All due respect to our ace pilot Mr. Purr, but I think the Captain and I would be best to handle the negotiations with the infomorph. It might be prudent to have one of our science team on hand for assistance if questions get technical, but I believe renting the station under the premise that Sarteck inc. is interested in doing some legal entanglement free plasma containment research is workable. After we have secured a space we can go about developing a reconnaissance plan for investigating each individual suspicious enterprise in the station. And I quite agree with Dr. Caine Freerover; we can not afford to rule out any of the four groups, as each one may have a motivation for stealing the antimatter devices."

I was thinking Tobermorry could be the primary contact and Vincent would assist with the communication.

I would be happy to lend my expertise. I've been doing a lot of reading lately, and will cobble together a plausible research program that should fool any infomorph or layperson.

"Suggestion: I would be happy to work on creating some items as a viable cover for being in the facility. We should get what ever surveillance gear we can to monitor the station--radio scanners, taps, remote cameras, etc."

"Observation: If one agent was here and failed, their security systems will be on alert."

"Compliance: Let me know what you need me to do."

So, you contact Ashira_29 and ask for renting some space aboard, for some "scientifically oriented business of yours". The infomorph tells you it should be okay, but that it will give its definite answer (approval or rebuttal) in two weeks. In fact, you are pretty certain that your cover will work fine.

However, if you are in a hurry to rent the space immediately, one of you must succeed a Bluff or Diplomacy check* at DC=25. If you say you want to make a short visit of the place before renting anything, you only need to make a Diplomacy check at DC=15 (which is already too high for something which should be granted almost automatically!).

Of course, if you go for waiting two weeks, you could decide to do other things until then. Luna (Earth's moon) is close enough to go there and back in the meantime; there are many other places you could want to visit on Earth too. Of course, you could want to spy on Ashira_29 through some other means, or maybe attack it? (or more seriously, try to get more info about the suspicious companies in other ways than going into the station...)

(*: OOC: I know you would probably prefer to keep them for emergency situations, but don't forget that you have action points too!)

"Very well, let's try to gain access for a short visit tomorrow to tour the facilities and possibly meet some of the suspicious residents."

Vincent punches up the contact information for the Ashira station infomorph on his HUD display and makes his request.

"Ashira_29 infomorph, this is the Sarteck liaison requesting a tour of the facilities tomorrow at 0800 for our science team. We'd like to be certain we can remain appropriately... discreet in our research. Privacy is very important to us at Sarteck inc. Providing everything is in order, we can make final arrangements to rent."

Diplomacy: 14 damn...

The Ashira_29 station's infomorph replies:

- "Of course sir; you are welcome to visit us! You will be able to see by yourself that our facilities are extremely clean, and have an excellent level of security. We don't ask questions about our clients' businesses, as long as they don't seem to endanger the station itself of course."

[OOC: Diplomacy: +9r +14 to the roll = 23; well above the 15 for a simple visit; close to the 25 requested to rent immediately, so with further discussion once on the station, you could probably rent immediately instead of waiting for two weeks (but it's strange that a company would be in such a hurry, so could require a little Bluffing...)]

So, you are now able to take the Telarion's shuttle and head up for Ashira_29. The infomorph didn't tell anything about a maximum number of persons allowed to pay a visit, so you can probably abuse the "invitation" if you want. (Concerning persons visiting the station, you know that regularly some faithful followers of the Church of the Scientific Revelations come to the temple which is in the station, although they are not allowed to visit elsewhere).

Well done. The next step, I imagine is to set up short interviews with some of the
people already working aboard the station, if we can. Shall we split up once on board
and send two-person teams to interview each of the four suspicious targets?

Jay Purr awaits assignment by Collins or Tobermory. He will pilot the shuttle if needed, otherwise he can wait on board the ship.

OOC: Turanil, what can we expect in terms of equipment that we will be permitted to carry openly on Ashira_29? I am going to assume that personal weapons and armor are forbidden unless you indicate otherwise. However, I will also assume we can carry anything we want on our own shuttle unless you indicate otherwise.
